Networking and projects

ECAS has promoted information and advice services as close as possible to the citizen and to encourage networking among citizens advice bureaux.  Before enlargement to 10 new member states on 1 May 2004 and 2 more on 1 Janu;ary 2007, there was interest in supporting NGOs in applicant countries.  Building on this work, ECS played a role in bringing the  organisaton concerned together  in a regular forum of citizens advice servicesinternal_link2.png, and which led to the creation of Citizens Advice International (CAI)link.png.  Projects - see below - also provide an opportunity to create networks.

The One-Stop Shop project
The one-stop mobility shop idea is being put to the test in a project run by ECAS under the Progress programme with three main partners, Barka Foundation, La Charrone and S.T.E.P. The idea here is that if the one-stop shop approach can be shown to work to respond to the needs of the most vulnerable and destitute intra-EU migrants, it can work more generally.  Conferences and partners exchanges were carried out in Poznan (Poland), Dungannon (Northern Ireland), Paris, London and Warsaw.  A final event will took place on 12-13 May in Brussels.
