Our main achievements:
1. Hundreds of NGOs have benefitted from the EU as a result of our funding guide, monitoring and lobbying tips
2. Thanks to ECAS a number of European associations have been created in areas such as health, culture and citizens advice
3. ECAS was the first to raise the need for a general anti-discrimination clause which was included when the Treaty was revised in Amsterdam
4. Research on listening to civil society encouraged more openness in the EU institutions and the Commission standards of consultation
5. As a result of our hotlines and running the citizens signpost service, thousands of citizens have become more aware of how to enforce their European rights
6. ECAS has been a catalyst for new techniques of communication with citizens and an active campaigner in the debate on plan D and citizen participation
7. Through research, complaints to the European ombudsman and by lobbying ECAS promotes freedom of information in the EU institutions
8. Through well attended conferences and publications on EU governance and Treaty reforms, ECAS is recognized as a resource on European citizenship and a think tank for the non-profit sector
9. ECAS has made a big contribution to the cause of ending restrictions on free movement from new member states as result of its reports ”Whose afraid of EU enlargement?”
10. A European civil society going ahead of enlargement has been pioneered by ECAS through its scholarship programme and advocacy campaign for the Western Balkans and neighbouring countries.
